HISTORY

One of the Tea and Coffee Estate parishes, of Coimbatore Diocese on the Anamalai Hills, situated at the State border of Kerala comprising mostly Dalit Catholics from Madura and Tirunelveli districts and Malayalees. It was first a sub - station to Mudis and the church was built in the year 1966. by Fr. S. M. Amaladass. Late Bishop Francis M. Savarimuthu blessed the church on 3rd Dec., 1967. The parish was established as a separate parish in 1973. Fr. Maria Selvam was the first parish priest. A beautiful belfry was erected and was blessed by Rt. Rev. M. Ambrose on 29.05.1989 constructed by Fr. M. Jesudas. The convent of the Presentation sisters and a Dispensary was opened in 1972 and a new building was blessed on 17.12.1991. A new chapel at Murugali was built on 19.12.1992. A new Presbytery, was constructed by Fr. P. Irudayaraj.
