HISTORY

Palladam was a sub-station of the parish of Tirupur and later, to the parish of Sulur. A new churchwas constructed and dedicated to Our Lady of Vailankanni, built by Fr. P. Maria Joseph and blessed by Most. Rev. M. Ambrose. on the feast day of Blessed Virgir Mary, 8th September 1995 .Palladam was born as a parish on 11th ol June 2001, on the feast day of Pentecost with Fr. Gurusamy as it first parish priest, On 8 September 2000 Bishop Ambrose laid Foundation-stone for Presbytery and blessed it on 27th May 2001 or the feast day of Ascension. The Catholics of this parish about 35C families, are from different parts of Tamilnadu, majority of phem arc migrants from the area of Dindigul. In general, the people are very poor and not much educated, mostly working in fields, some ir hoisiery factories, power loom factories, just a very few i government jobs. Peoplelive scattered from a radius of 5 to 25 Kms. From time to time Holy mass is celebrated at Puliampatty, Pongalur Goundampalayam and in Arivoli Nagar. A hew presbytery at Palladan was built by Fr. Gurusamy and it was blessed by Bishop Ambrose. There is a social service center run by the Presentation Sisters tc help the poor and marginalized, in and around this area. They firsi started the English Medium Nursery school which was late discontinued.
